STATISTICS: BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, 2008-2017: y-o-y increases on main insurance lines, MTPL dominated the market
Bosnian insurance market grew solidly y-o-y, in terms of gross written premiums (GWP), from EUR 232 million in 2008 to EUR 349 million in 2017. Around half of premiums were brought by MTPL only. Paid claims (PC) fluctuated between EUR 95 - 136 million.
BOSNIA and HERZEGOVINA: New Draft Law proposed by Government will bring changes for local insurance companies
The Government of Republic of Srpska has established a Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Insurance Companies. The proposed articles will include changes in insurers' internal organization, higher amounts of founding capital required, as well as changes in administrative procedures.
BOSNIA and HERZEGOVINA: GWP of ASA Osiguranje in 2018 went up by more than 20%
ASA Osiguranje, one of the youngest insurance companies in Bosnia, which was established in 2007 and is part of the ASA Group, ended 2018 with positive results (~+20%), and, according to the General Director Feda MORANKIC, the same positive trend is expected in 2019.
STATISTICS: BiH, 1H2018: solid business growth despite challenging legal inconsistencies
The Bosnian market saw a consolidated GWP growth rate of 4% y-o-y in 1H2018, to EUR 183.5 million. Of this total, the non-life insurance segment accounts for by far the largest part with over 80%. Moreover, the MTPL insurance class provides for a clear half of the total GWP volume.
BiH: GRAWE buys ATOS Osiguranje for EUR 12 million, increasing its market weight to over 11%
Austrian insurer GRAWE has increased its presence on the Bosnian specialty market by acquiring the local insurer ATOS Osiguranje, former "Bobar osiguranje, for a total consideration of just over KM 23 million (~ EUR 12 million), the local financial press reports.

10 years after its inception, the Romanian mandatory dwelling insurance system has progressed and PAID, the pool underwriting and managing the mandatory policies is a strong and financially sound institution. "We are currently managing a reinsurance program worth EUR 920 million, with a pool of excellent reinsurers, more than half of them rated AA+, while the company's solvency rate is of 220%," recently stated Nicoleta RADU, CEO, PAID.
