22 May 2017 —
Calin RANGU, Director, ASF - Financial Supervisory Authority spoke, during the "Insurance Market Trends" conference at FIAR 2017 about financial innovation and ASF's proposals regarding this aspects.

"We thought to allow, even in new regulations, some innovations that are already known at international level and can be brought on the Romanian market as well", Calin RANGU explained. The three proposals include: peer-to-peer insurance (collaborative insurance), self-assessment of damages and pay-per-use.

"We will create these solutions and make them available for the insurance companies that want to use them. These are not mandatory elements, but we want to build a framework that allows companies to innovate, to create new products that allows the final customer to choose want he/she wants", Calin RANGU explained.

"There are three innovative ideas that can be applied rapidly, there are other new elements brought by the legislation, such as direct compensation, which is an important concept from the consumer protection perspective. The MTPL contract is an open one, additional services can be added. We believe that this will increase the customers' loyalty and, by extension, their trust in the insurance industry will increase as well", he added.
