GEORGIA: mandatory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners to come into force in July, 2019

A bill, providing for mandatory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners from July, 2019, soon will be submitted to the Parliament, as the international news agency Sputnik informed.

The relative legislative changes were initiated by the government of Georgia. According to the bill, the main target of the mandatory insurance of civil liability will be compensation of material damage and damage, caused to life and health. Average cost of insurance per year for cars will vary from USD 37 to USD 56, and for the bigger sized vehicles (buses and trucks) - from USD 60 to USD 116.

The bill will also introduce penalties for those, whose liability is not insured. Amount of penalty, depending on the type of a vehicle, will amount to about USD 75.
