GEORGIA: total number of insured moto vehicles increased to 5.9%

According to the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia total number of insured moto vehicles in the country as of the end of the second quarter 2018 amounted to 5.9%, while last year their average number was 5.2%.

In the first quarter the number of insured land moto vehicles amounted to 5.5% (more than 71 thousand units) of the total number of moto vehicles, registered in the country. Such a trend means that people insure their moto vehicles more often. For comparison: in the first quarter 2017 the number of insured vehicles amounted to over 56 thousand, and in the first quarter 2016 - about 52.6 thousand units, wrote Sputnik information agency.

Total population in Georgia exceeds 3.7 million people, at that every third person owns a vehicle and there is no mandatory insurance for vehicle owners. Vehicle accidents happen really often in the country. In the first quarter 2018 there were registered more than 1 thousand of transport related accidents, including 66 fatal ones, data of the Georgian Ministry of internal affairs show.
