Kazakhstan: since July 2017 Fund of social health insurance received almost KZT 71.9 billion

From July 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018 the Fund of social health insurance received about KZT 71.9 billion of premiums, as announced by the Fund. Only in May this year premiums amounted to KZT 8.5 billion. At that the current population of Kazakhstan is more than 18.2 million.

From the total amount received during the mentioned period 88.2% is the share of employers, and - 11.8% - premiums of individual entrepreneurs and persons, working under civil contracts. During the first phase all premiums are accumulated and controlled by the National Bank.

The law on compulsory social health insurance was signed in November 2015 for implementation of this compulsory insurance based on the concept of joint and several liabilities of government, employers and citizens, according to the portal allinsurance.kz. The Fund was established in 2016, but payment of premiums started from July 1, 2017. Implementation of the system of compulsory social health insurance is planned for 2019.
