STATISTICS: KOSOVO insurers reported a 20% y-o-y growth rate in 1H paid claims
The Kosovo insurers' GWP increased by 2.74% y-o-y, to EUR 41.05 million in the first half of 2017, as shown by the Central Bank's data.

The total gross claims paid were up by about 20% to EUR 19.78 million due the over 23% increases reported on both Motor TPL classes: Domestic MTPL (+23.4%) and Border policies (+23.7%).

The total number of policies sold by local insurers was of 418.15 thousand (vs. 388.76 in 1H 2016), of which about 192 thousand were DMTPL contracts and 111 thousand - border policies.

Gross written premiums from Domestic Motor TPL insurance remained stable at EUR 22.50 million, generating about 55% of total GWP, while Border policies GWP amounted to EUR 2.37 million, 8.74% more y-o-y.
