In the first quarter of the year, the Lithuanian insurance market grew by 3.55% y-o-y to EUR 240 million, while the value of payments expanded by more than 8% y-o-y to EUR 135 million, according to figures published by the Bank of Lithuania.

The amount of non-life GWP remained at the Q1 2019 level, while the life insurance market grew by 12.66% to EUR 70.6 million.

According to the Central Bank's statistics, SWEDBANK Life Insurance (23.8% market share), COMPENSA Life Insurance (18.9%) and AVIVA Lietuva (18.8%) were the top 3 life insurers in the country for GWP.

Of 14 non-life insurers active in the country, the largest three as GWP were Lietuvos draudimas (~EUR 46.6 million), BTA Insurance Company (~EUR 25.5 million) and ERGO (~EUR 23.2 million).
