STATISTICS: POLAND, 3Q2015: Stagnation in aggregate GWP despite the 16% fall in traditional life policies

At the end of 3Q2015 the Polish insurance market totaled PLN 40.88 billion (EUR 9.65 billion) or 0.22% more y-o-y, as the financial indicators published by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) show. Official figures also reveal that the amount of paid claims/indemnities during the period was PLN 25.85 billion, representing an increase of 2.39% y-o-y.

On insurance classes, life GWP amounted to PLN 20.83 billion (-1.79% y-o-y) - the negative trend being driven by an almost 16% fall in the traditional life policies GWP.

On the other hand, the non-life insurance segment recorded a 2.41% increase in GWP (to PLN 20.05 billion) - with impressive growth rates in accidents and travel sub-classes, stable results on motor lines and decreases in credit and financial losses insurance.

The life and non-life market rankings as GWP was led by the two PZU units as follows: PZU ZYCIE generated 29.14% of the life insurance GWP, followed by AVIVA (7.74%) and METLIFE (7.12%), while PZU SA held a 31.18% share of the non-life GWP, followed by WARTA (14.07%) and ERGO HESTIA (13.61%).
