STATISTICS: SLOVAK Rep, 1Q2017: GWP went up by 4.6% y-o-y while paid claims increased by 6.7%
In 1Q2017 the Slovak insurance market totaled EUR 569.5 million, 4.6% up y-o-y, the statistics published by the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) indicated.

The value of paid claims increased by 6.7% y-o-y to EUR 297.0 million.

In terms of GWP, life insurance (5.4% increase to EUR 253.4 million) accounted for the 44.5% of the total premium volume. Of this total, about EUR 127 million was generated by life policies with profit participation, while the index-linked & unit-linked insurance generated premiums of EUR 54.1 million.

Non-life insurance accounted for the remaining 55.5% of the market, of which 29.9% were generated by motor insurance policies: MoD (13.7%) and MTPL (91.9%).
