STATISTICS: The CEE insurance market exceeded EUR 10 billion in Q1

The CEE insurance market totaled EUR 10.1 billion at the end of March 2019, according to regional markets figures collected and centralized by XPrimm Publications, 2% more y-o-y on average.

Life insurance classes generated about EUR 3.2 billion, 5.3% less y-o-y, due to decreases reported by Poland (-9.7%) and the Czech Republic (-16.3%) - the largest regional markets as GWP.

On the other hand, the aggregate value of NL GWP amounted to EUR 6.9 billion, 5% more y-o-y, due to positive rates reported by Motor and Property LoBs.

All in all, the largest regional markets in terms of GWP remain Poland (EUR 3.8 billion, 37.6% market share) followed by the Czech Republic (EUR 1.6 billion, 16%) and Hungary (EUR 986 million, 9.7%).
