Three new appointments at XL Catlin insurance operations

XL Catlin insurance operations announced on 4 June three appointments: Donnacha SMYTH as President Global Excess Casualty Insurance; Carla GREAVES as Chief Underwriting Officer, Global Excess Casualty; Aurelie FALLON SAINT-LO as Senior Underwriter, Environmental and Client & Distribution Leader for Western France.

Donnacha SMYTH, who will be based in Dublin, will start his new role on September 3, 2018. He will lead all Global Excess Casualty teams including North America, Dublin and Bermuda. Carla GREAVES, who is based in Bermuda, currently leads Excess Casualty underwriting for Bermuda. She has been promoted to Chief Underwriting Officer for the Global Excess Casualty practice and will lead the team of expert Excess Casualty underwriters on a worldwide basis. Based in Brest, Aurelie FALLON SAINT-LO will contribute to the development of XL Catlin's environmental insurance business in France while taking on responsibility for maintaining and building relationships with brokers and clients in western France, starting 4 June.

Mr. SMYTH is not new to XL Catlin having served as Chief Excess Casualty Officer from 2007 to 2016. For the past two years, Mr. Smyth has been leading the International Excess Casualty group at Aspen Insurance.

Together, Mr. SMYTH and Ms. GREAVES will support the growing Global Excess Casualty insurance team which provides Lead Umbrella, Excess, Occurrence, Claims Made, Occurrence Reported and Primary Rail and Excess insurance coverages from global access points with underwriting centers in Bermuda, Dublin, and 13 cities in North America. Liability limits up to $100 million are available.

Ms. FALLON SAINT-LO started her career as an environmental engineer for various organisations including Lafarge and Suez Environnement. Prior to joining XL Catlin, she had been leading Chubb's Environmental risks team in France since 2011.

XL Catlin provides a range of solutions for businesses exposed to environmental risks, including Pollution & Remediation, Legal Liability and Contractors Pollution Liability.

The supervisory bodies of Deutsche Ruckversicherung AG and the Association of German Public Insurers decided today, to appoint Achim Bosch (53) to the executive board of the two reinsurers, where he will be responsible for non-life reinsurance.
