WICHTOWSKI: EUR 350 million was the bill paid by Polish motor insurers for claims outside Poland

"In 2016, there were 62.000 claims made by Polish drivers outside the country," Mariusz WICHTOWSKI, President, Polish Motor Insurers Bureau said at the International Conference "Insurance in Central Asia".

He added that The Polish Bureau has paid EUR 350 million for claims made outside Poland, while another EUR 350 million are in reserves for future claims. "Green Card is a very specific business, is not very profitable, the claims could come after years and you should pay them. Yet, there is also an advantage in practicing this line of business, as it enables cross sales, allowing insurers to sell other policies (household, etc)." he added.

Mariusz WICHTOWSKI served for several years as President of the Council of Bureaux, the international body managing the Green Card system.
