Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) announced it has appointed Francis BOUCHARD to the new position of Group Head of Communications and Public Affairs. The position reflects the forthcoming integration of the communications and public affairs functions. Mr. BOUCHARD will take up his position on July 1 and will report directly to Zurich's Group Chief Executive Officer Mario GRECO.

Giulio TERZARIOL appointed to ALLIANZ SE Supervisory Board

Giulio TERZARIOL (45) has been appointed to the ALLIANZ SE Board of Management as of January 1, 2018. He takes over responsibility for the Finance, Controlling and Risk Management division. He is succeeding Dieter WEMMER (60), whose contract ends at the end of 2017 upon reaching the Board's designated age limit.

Niran PEIRIS appointed to the ALLIANZ SE Board of Management; Christof Mascher's contract extended until 2020

Walter B. KIELHOLZ to be re-elected to the Swiss Re's Board of Directors as Chairman of the Board; three new entries in the Board

Swiss Re's Board of Directors proposed Walter B. KIELHOLZ to be re-elected to the Board of Directors and in the same vote be re-elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors for a one-year term of office until the completion of the AGM in 2018. The Board's proposal is in line with the Articles of Association provisions wich provide for an annual individual election of members of the Board of Directors and of the Chairman of the Board of Directors by the AGM.

Aon announces new leadership for AON Risk Solutions in the UK

AON announced the appointment of Julie PAGE as CEO of Aon Risk Solutions (ARS) in the UK, effective 1 April 2017. She takes over this role from Andrew TUNNICLIFFE, who has been with AON since 2005, holding senior leadership roles within ARS EMEA and Aon Global Risk Consulting as well as leading ARS UK. To help transition key client relationships, he will continue to work on a part-time basis with ARS UK and EMEA.

Personnel changes in the Board of Management of TALANX Systeme AG

German insurer TALANX announced it has appointed Mario KRAUSE (currently, in the Board of Management of TALANX Systeme AG, responsible for IT relating to Property/Casualty, Industrial Lines and Infrastructure ) as Chairman of the Board of Management of TALANX Systeme AG, with effect from 1 July 2017. His place on the Board of Management will be taken by Oliver BARNACK, who currently leads Infrastructure Operation and Application Development for Property/Casualty in the management team of TALANX Systeme AG.

KBC Group's CEO appointed Chairman of FEBELFIN

Kaan GUNAY named as Assistant General Manager of ALLIANZ Turkey

CHUBB appoints Adrian MATTHEWS as COO, Continental Europe

CHUBB announced the appointment of Adrian MATTHEWS, currently Executive Vice President and Zonal Leader Major Accounts for the company's Midwest, Canada and Northeast regions in North America, to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), Continental Europe. 

Bruce CARNEGIE-BROWN is to become the Chairman of Lloyd's following a meeting of the Council of Lloyd's where his appointment as successor to John NELSON was approved unanimously. This appointment also had the unanimous support of the Lloyd's Franchise Board.

Swiss Re proposes to elect Jay Ralph and Joerg Reinhardt to the Board

Swiss Re Group announced that the Board of Directors proposes to elect Jay Ralph and Joerg Reinhardt as new, non-executive and independent members at the Annual General Meeting of shareholders on 21 April 2017. At the same time, as it had already announced, Swiss Re also proposes to elect Jacques de Vaucleroy to its Board of Directors. Carlos E. Represas, who has been a member of Swiss Re's Board since 2010, will not stand for re-election.

Swiss Re Group's CUO, Matthias Weber, to step down; Edouard Schmid to succeed him

The global reinsurer Swiss Re announced that, after 25 years, Matthias Weber (Group Chief Underwriting Officer - CUO) is leaving the company, effective 30 June 2017, "to begin a new chapter in his life". He will be succeeded by Edouard Schmid, currently Head Property & Specialty Reinsurance, who has been with Swiss Re since 1991.

TURKEY: Marius POPESCU appointed as NN Hayat ve Emeklilik CEO as of 1 April 2017

NN Group announced that Marius POPESCU (currently CEO of NN Romania) will be appointed CEO of NN Hayat ve Emeklilik Turkey, effective 1 April. He succeeds Frank EIJSINK which was named CEO of NN Life Japan. NN Group pointed out that Marius POPESCU's successor will be announced in due course: "On an interim basis, Mihai MUNTEAN, Chief Sales Officer, will assume responsibility as CEO NN Life Insurance Romania". 

NN Group appoints Satish BAPAT as CEO NN IP and Member of the Management Board NN Group

NN Group announced that starting 1 April 2017, Satish BAPAT will be appointed as CEO of NN Investment Partners (NN IP) and as a member of the Management Board of NN Group. Satish BAPAT succeeds Stan BECKERS, who joined NN Group as CEO of NN Investment Partners on 1 July 2013. "After 38 years in the financial services industry, Stan is retiring on 1 April 2017. He will stay on as a special advisor to the NN Group Management Board to help ensure a smooth transition", NN Group announced in a press release.

IAIS names Jonathan DIXON as new Secretary General

The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) has named Jonathan DIXON as the successor to long-time Secretary General Yoshihiro KAWAI. He will become Secretary General following the IAIS Annual Conference on 3 November 2017. Jonathan DIXON will join the Secretariat on 1 September as part of a two-month transition before taking over as Secretary General after the end of the IAIS's Annual Conference.

AIG names Robert SCHEINERMAN President, Group Retirement and appoints Todd SOLASH President, Individual Retirement

American International Group (AIG), announced that Robert SCHEINERMAN, currently President, Individual Retirement, will become President, Group Retirement. At the same time, Todd SOLASH has joined AIG as President, Individual Retirement. Robert SCHEINERMAN will continue to be based in Houston, where the Group Retirement business is headquartered, while Todd SOLASH will be based in Woodland Hills, California. Both will report directly to Jana W. GREER, President and CEO, Individual and Group Retirement, AIG.

QATAR Re promotes internal candidates to CUO positions

The global multi-line reinsurer QATAR Re announced the promotions of Luke RODEN and Michael van der STRAATEN to Short and Long-Tail Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) positions. Previously they were Deputy CUOs to Alastair SPEARE-COLE, who resigned earlier this month.

MMC names Susan A. STONE General Counsel of Risk and Insurance Services

Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) announced that Susan A. STONE has been appointed General Counsel of the Company's Risk and Insurance Services (RIS) segment, which includes MARSH and GUY CARPENTER. She succeeds James J. McNasby, who has served as General Counsel of MARSH since 2007 and as General Counsel of RIS since 2015. "Mr. McNasby has assumed a business role within MARSH", MMC announced in a press release.

AON Group's President, Steve McGill to step down

The global brokerage firm AON announced that Group President Steve McGill is leaving the company "to explore new opportunities". No replacement was named, but company said in a statement that Eric ANDERSEN, CEO of AON Benfield and Mike O'CONNOR, CEO of AON Risk Solutions, "will work together to jointly build AON's global risk business and report directly to president and CEO Greg CASE. The transition is effective immediately".

Aon Group president, Steve McGill steps down to pursue new opportunities.

Aon plc has announced on January 25th that group president, Steve McGill is leaving the firm to explore new opportunities. Eric Andersen, CEO of Aon Benfield and Mike O'Connor, CEO of Aon Risk Solutions, will work together to jointly build Aon's global risk business and report directly to president and CEO Greg Case. The transition is effective immediately.

Miroslav SINGER - former Governor of Czech National Bank to join GENERALI Group

Miroslav SINGER (48), former Governor of Czech National Bank (CNB), has been appointed as Director for Institutional Affairs and Chief Economist of GENERALI CEE Holding with effect from 16 January 2017. He will also join the Supervisory Board of Czech market leader Ceska pojistovna - a GENERALI Group company - to become its chairman.

Renata Jungo BRUNGGER appointed in the Supervisory Board at MUNICH Re

Jacek MATUSIAK will replace Maciej SZYSZKO as CEO of PZU's Ukrainian unit

The Supervisory Board of PZU Ukraine, insurance company based in Kiev, appointed Jacek MATUSIAK, member of the board since September 2016, to be the new CEO replacing Maciej SZYSZKO, who will perform its attributions on this position till January 15, 2017, according to Interfax Ukraine.

Marko JAZBEC appointed to head the Slovenian SAVA Re group

Marko JAZBEC was appointed as SAVA Re's Chair of the Management Board "with a five-year term of office starting the day after the licence to perform the function of management board member is issued by the Insurance Supervision Agency", the Slovenian group has announced on December 16th.

Marco SESANA named new Country Manager of Italy. Timothy RYAN named Group Chief Investment Officer

CHUBB appoints A&H, consumer lines heads in Germany

CHUBB announced the heads of its Accident and Health (A&H) and Specialty Personal Lines (SPL) insurance business lines in Germany. The appointments reflect the current integration process following the acquisition of CHUBB by ACE and follow the recent announcement the property and casualty and claims department heads as well as that of Andreas WANIA as Country President and legal representative for CHUBB in Germany earlier in the year. RMS Strengthens Executive Team with Appointment of Michael STEEL

Stephen McGee appointed CFO of AEGON UK

MetLife names former AIG CFO to Board

MetLife elected David HERZOG, the former Chief Financial Officer of the American International Group, to its board of directors. The addition brings the total number of directors to 13, with 12 being independent, MetLife said in a statement.

Top FBI cyber expert joins AON's Cyber Solutions Group

AON announced the appointment of James TRAINOR as senior vice president in its Cyber Solutions Group. TRAINOR joins AON after a distinguished career at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where he most recently led the Cyber Division at FBI Headquarters. "In his new role, TRAINOR will help shape AON's overall cyber strategy on behalf of clients, working closely with colleagues across technology, system integration, risk transfer and advisory to ensure a holistic and integrated approach".

Alexander ANKEL to head ERGO International AG

Alexander ANKEL has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of ERGO's international business, the German insurance group recently announced. Alexander ANKEL will assume the new responsibility on November 1, replacing Jochen MESSEMER who will leave the company at the end of the year. The appointment is subject to the usual reservations by the German Financial Supervisory Authority.

WILLIS Re appoints Printhan SOTHINATHAN as specialty analytics head

WILLIS Re announced the appointment of Printhan SOTHINATHAN as Managing Director, Head of WILLIS Re Specialty Analytics. SOTHINATHAN will begin his role in January 2017 and will report to Graeme MOORE, Chief Executive Officer of WILLIS Re Global Specialty.

ACHMEA appoints Michel LAMIE as Chief Financial Officer

ACHMEA has appointed Michel LAMIE to ACHMEA's Executive Board with effect from 1 January 2017. He will succeed Huub ARENDSE as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in April 2017 following the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. When he was appointed in 2013, ARENDSE said that he would be available for a period of four years. Approval of the appointment of Michel LAMIE has been obtained from the Dutch Central Bank (DNB).

Thierry PELGRIN will lead the European business of SOMPO Canopius

The global reinsurance business of Lloyd's insurer Sompo Canopius has appointed Thierry PELGRIN as the new leader for its operations in continental Europe, Asia Insurance Review reports.
He will take up the role at SOMPO Canopius Re on November 1, reporting to chief underwriting officer Jamie WAKELING.

CFO Darryl BUTTON to leave AEGON

AEGON said that Chief Financial Officer Darryl BUTTON will leave the company on December 1, 2016, after that he has announced his intention to return to the United States with his family after four years in the Netherlands and will pursue new opportunities outside the company. Darryl BUTTON was appointed to the Executive Board of AEGON and CFO in May 2013 and will conclude his tenure with the company on December 1, 2016.

German insurer ALLIANZ annoucenced that Peter BORCHERS will join ALLIANZ X management team as CEO as of October 1, 2016. ALLIANZ X is one of the key pillars of the Digital Transformation strategy of ALLIANZ Group and represents the company builder and venturing unit.

Thomas BUBERL officially become CEO of AXA

As of September 1st, 2016, Thomas BUBERL officially became Chief Executive Officer of the AXA Group, replacing Henri de CASTRIES after the latter's 17 years of leadership, while Denis DUVERNE became Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Zvonko IVANUSIC steps down from the SAVA Re's Board Chairman position

The supervisory board of SAVA Reinsurance Company recalled Zvonko IVANUSIC from the position of both Chairman and Member of the Company's management board as of August 23rd, 2016. Jost DOLNICAR, also a management board member, was appointed as temporary chairman, while the Board itself will continue to function with only three members.

AON names Jin-Yong CAI to the company's Board of Directors

The risk and insurance brokerage services provider AON announced that Jin-Yong CAI, a TPG Capital partner and the former CEO of IFC - the World Bank's investment arm, has been appointed to the Company's Board of Directors effective August 10, 2016. Jin-Yong CAI will also serve on AON's Finance and Organization and Compensation Committees.

NN Group names new chief risk officer

NN Group announced that Jan-Hendrik ERASMUS will be appointed Chief Risk Officer (CRO). He joins NN Group as Member of the Management Board as of 1 September 2016. ERASMUS will succeed Doug CALDWELL, who will leave NN Group later this year to pursue his career outside of the company.

Axel THEIS succeeds Clement B. BOOTH as EULER HERMES Supervisory Board Chairman

Following the shareholders' meeting in Paris at the end of May, the EULER HERMES Supervisory Board announced the appointment of Axel THEIS as Chairman, as well as the appointment of Marita KRAEMER and Ramon FERNANDEZ as members of the Supervisory Board, replacing Clement B. BOOTH, member of the Supervisory Board since September 2009 who resigned at the end of the shareholders' meeting, and Jean-Herve LORENZI, member of the Supervisory Board since November 2004, whose mandate expired.

Swiss Re: Moses OJEISEKHOBA to become CEO Reinsurance, Jayne PLUNKETT to succeed him as Regional President and CEO Reinsurance, Asia

Following the Group's announcement concerning CEO's Michel M. LIES retirement, after four successful years and his replacement by Christian MUMENTHALER, currently CEO Reinsurance, as of 1 July 2016, Swiss Re's Board of Directors decided that Moses OJEISEKHOBA (49, Nigerian and British), currently Regional President and CEO Reinsurance, Asia and a member of the Group Executive Committee, will become the new CEO Reinsurance.

GREECE: George KOTSALOS steps down as CEO of INTERAMERICAN

George KOTSALOS is stepping down as Chief Executive Officer at INTERAMERICAN Greece during the course of this year, the Dutch mother company ACHMEA annouced a week ago. "The year in which he turns 65", ACHMEA said in the statement.

Alexander VOLLERT - appointed CEO of AXA Germany

AXA announces the appointment of Alexander VOLLERT as Chief Executive Officer of AXA Germany. In addition, he will be appointed to the AXA Group's Executive Committee. This appointment will be effective as of September 16, 2016, subject to the approval of the BaFin, the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority.

Philippe DONNET replaces Mario GRECO as CEO of the GENERALI Group

Philippe DONNET (55), previously GENERALI Italia Country Manager, was appointed by GENERALI's Board of Directors as Group CEO, conferring on him all related executive powers. DONNET will replace Mario GRECO, after his leave for heading ZURICH Insurance. The Board of Directors also appointed Alberto MINALI (50) as General Manager of the Company.

Wim de WEIJER appointed to ACHMEA Supervisory Board

ACHMEA has appointed Wim de WEIJER (62) member of the Supervisory Board. He succeeds Paul OVERMARS, who retired at the annual general meeting of shareholders held in 2015. De Nederlandsche Bank has approved this appointment.

CHUBB names Continental Europe country presidents

CHUBB announced it has appointed the country presidents who will lead its operations in Continental Europe, with immediate effect. All country presidents will report to Jeff MOGHRABI, Division President, Continental Europe for CHUBB.

Peter BRAUMULLER re-elected as Alternate Chair of EIOPA

The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) announced its Board of Supervisors has re-elected Peter BRAUMULLER, Managing Director at the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), as EIOPA's Alternate Chair for a period of five years.​ Peter BRAUMULLER will continue to deputise for the Chairman of EIOPA, Gabriel BERNARDINO, who has been reappointed for a further five years.

Vehbi KAAN ACUN is the new Assistant General Manager of MILLI Re, Turkey

Imre SZTANO to replace Cornelia COMAN as CEO of NN Hungary

Starting March 1st, 2016, Imre SZTANO, currently Chief Sales Officer (CSO) of NN Hungary, will be appointed CEO of the company, this change waiting for regulatory approval. He will succeed Cornelia COMAN, who was CEO of NN Hungary since 2012: "She will be moving on to a new role within NN Group", the company announced in a statement.

GENERALI's Group CEO Mario GRECO leaving to head ZURICH Insurance

GENERALI's Group CEO, Mario GRECO returns to ZURICH Insurance, the company where he was employed for five years before joining GENERALI. The Swiss-based insurer announced that its Board of Directors has appointed him to the role of Chief Executive Officer effective May 1, 2016. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

Michal KRUPINSKI appointed as new CEO of PZU

The Polish state-controlled insurer PZU (Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen) announced on January 20th, the appointment of Michal KRUPINSKI as Company's Chief Executive Officer. At the same time, PZU appointed other four Members of the Management Board: Roger HODGKISS, Beata KOZLOWSKA-CHYL, Robert PIETRYSZYN and Pawel SUROWKA.

Hans-Peter HAGEN's appointment as President of the Supervisory Board of Romanian ASIROM VIG approved

By its Decision adopted on October 8, the Romanian Financial Supervisory Authority's Board approved the appointment of Mr. Hans-Peter HAGEN as President of the Supervisory Board of Asigurarea Romaneasca - ASIROM Vienna Insurance Group SA. Since his arrival in Romania Hans-Peter HAGEN was Member of the Supervisory Board of the former insurer AGRAS (2005), while a year later, he took over the position of Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of OMNIASIG.

Pavel SAMIEV appointed as Managing Partner of the National Agency of Financial Studies

Starting October 2015, Pavel SAMIEV has been appointed as Managing Partner of the Russian National Agency of Financial Studies. Previously, he held the position of Executive Director of the Russian rating agency EXPERT Ra. Besides that, Pavel SAMIEV has accepted to fulfill the duties as Director of the Analytical Insurance Institute of the All-Russian Insurance Association (ARIA).

EIOPA Chair Gabriel Bernardino extended for second 5-year term

The Board of Supervisors of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) has agreed to extend the term of office of EIOPA's Chairman, Gabriel Bernardino, for another five years from 2016 to 2021.This decision is based on the evaluation of Mr Bernardino's work and the results achieved over the past five year term as well as on EIOPA's duties and requirements for the upcoming years.
