MOLDOVA: The subsidy rate on agroinsurance contracts is set at 70%

31 January 2024 — Marina MAGNAVAL
The subsidy rate on agroinsurance contracts concluded in 2024 is set at 70% of the insurance premium cost based on the order of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry dated January 17, 2024, according to the fiscal monitoring website.

The Law on Subsidized Insurance in Agriculture establishes a subsidy rate based on insurance premiums calculated under special conditions for insuring production risks in agriculture, and it amounts to 70% of their cost, if the total amount of subsidies for subsidized insurance allowed for payment in the year before the conclusion of contracts amounted to up to 6% of the size of the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment.

Thus, in 2023, the total insurance subsidies allowed for payment amounted to MDL 60 million (~EUR 3.13 million), which is equivalent to 3.5% of the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment (FNDAMR).

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry annually, around January 15, sets the insurance subsidy rate for the current calendar year.
