POLAND: Telemedico digital health platform will be founded with EUR 5.5 million

Flashpoint Venture Capital, Uniqa Ventures, PKO VC, Black Pearls VC (an existing investor) and Adamed have funding Telemedico platform by EUR 5.5 million (approx. USD 6.6 million). The platform includes consultations with a doctor via chat, video or telephone; AI-triaging and coordination; and booking of in-person visits and blood testing.



STATISTICS: Polish insurers' Q3 profits decreased by 13% y-o-y

Polish insurance market totaled PLN 46.5 billion (EUR 10.2 billion) at the end of September 2020, down by 1% y-o-y, according to the quarterly market figures published by The Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF). At the same time, claims and benefits paid by local insurers decreased by ~4% y-o-y to PLN 29.5 billion EUR 6.5 billion.


POLAND: rules for divident payouts in 2021 issued by the KNF

KNF, the Polish authority for the financial markets' supervision has issued on 16 December a document concerning the dividend policy in 2021 for financial companies, including insurance companies, reinsurance companies and insurance and reinsurance companies.


POLAND: Border motor policies issued in 2019 decreased by half

During 2019, almost 3.9 million vehicles registered outside the European Economic Area (EEA) entered Poland through its eastern borders with Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. Although the traffic at these borders remains high, the number of border policies issued during 2019 dropped by half when compared to 2018, Polish Motor Insurers' Bureau (PBUK) informs.

POLAND: PZU provides 200 life-bands to hospitals in the fight against coronavirus

PZU will provide another 200 so-called life bands to hospitals that treat patients with COVID-19. The first such devices were delivered to institutions in May. The life band is an innovative solution on a global scale that analyzes the key vital parameters of patients and alerts medical staff in the event of a life threatening situation.


STATISTICS: POLAND, 1H2020: 7% y-o-y decline of the market net profit, but still a market of over EUR 7 billion at mid-year

Polish insurers ended the first half of 2020 with a 6.7% y-o-y decline of the GWP volume, to EUR 7.05 billion. In absolute terms, this means an about EUR 512 million drop in the market premiums turnover, almost equally divided between the life and non-life segments. Yet, given the about 5% depreciation of the Polish currency against Euro, the market results denominated in local currency look much better, showing just a 2% depreciation of the GWP volume.




POLAND: Gefion's MTPL contracts remain valid, KNF announces

Financial Supervision Authority of Poland announced that motor third party liability insurance contracts concluded or renewed until March 24, 2020 remain valid, and Gefion is obliged to consider reported claims and pay due compensation.
